The Perinton Congregations for Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity

Home

Through shelter, we empower ourselves, our neighbors and our communities.

Habitat for Humanity believes that no matter who you are, or where you come from, everyone deserves a decent place to live. We partner with people to help them build or improve a place to live that they can call home.

In 2023, we partnered with five other faith-based coalitions in order to build a new home annually. The six faith-based coalition, Greater Rochester Interfaith Builders (aka GRIB) all within Monroe County raises funds and recruits volunteers to build homes for the Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity, a non-denominational Christian housing ministry which welcomes people of all faiths or no faith to help eliminate poverty and substandard housing in Rochester. The coalition includes the Habitat Interfaith Partnership, Harvest Home, Penfield, Greece, Perinton and Brighton. Additional information can be found at – https://www.grhabitat.org/faith-volunteering

Our New Homes For 2025

The Greater Rochester Interfaith Builders (GRIB)  has 2 homes under construction for 2025 and 2026. Both homes are in the Beechwood neighborhood: 135 Hazelwood Terrace and 296 Garson Ave. Both are single family homes. 135 Hazelwood is anticipated to be finished and a dedication ceremony next Spring. The foundation and footings for 296 Garson are underway. A work schedule for this home is expected to be posted early 2026.   Volunteers from all Perinton Congregation churches continue to work tirelessly. Teams from Mountain Rise (October 25th), St John of Rochester (November 8th) Bethlehem Lutheran (September 20th and March 2026). Continue to check this website for not only the next GRIB homesite updates, but for other opportunities with the Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity, such as The Restore. To volunteer as an individual or group, registration is required, https://www.grhabitat.org/construction-volunteering.
